It is our mission to serve low-income, disadvantaged, and underrepresented minorities by providing them with a range of training and employment opportunities within the construction industry. ​

With a focus on self-improvement, Southtown Construction is a community-based not-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization that equips participants with the soft skills and residential construction expertise they’ll need to foster both professional and personal growth.

 

Calvin Pitts started the training center’s cornerstone, B.O.N.E LLC, in 2007, with the dream to educate the people from all walks of life. Overall, Mr. Pitts strives to contribute to his community by supplying these individuals with the resources they need to not only build but also maintain a sustainable and successful lifestyle.

 

The Multi-Craft Core curriculum, also known as MC3, is utilized in our program; this pre-apprenticeship level curriculum has been developed and approved by The Building & Construction Trades to ensure the attainment of knowledge and expertise required to launch a promising career in the construction sector. It includes, but is not limited to classroom centered instructions, discussions, and presentations. Our program concludes with a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience on active construction sites through on-the-job training.

Participants of our initiative will benefit from the testimonies and shared experiences of our partnered organized laborers, contractors, and many other guest speakers. Additionally, our program offers students the opportunity to attend job fairs and establish their credibility among potential employers. Overall, Southtown prides itself on our guarantee that every student who enrolls in our program leaves with not only a well-rounded understanding of their field, but also the mental and physical stamina, reliability, and self-assurance necessary to secure future employment.
